This New Testament Theology is the fruit of a long work of exegesis and interpretation of the biblical text, in its historical context, a text received as the fruit of the life and reflection of the first Churches.

The author sets himself a double task, chronological and synthetic, which he accomplishes in a richly documented dialogue with contemporary evangelical exegetical research. It places the actors, authors and books of the New Testament in a reconstructed chronological order, noting the major and specific themes of each. Study of Jesus and the early Church comes first, followed by the early Judeo-Christian writings of James and Jude, and then the missionary letters of Paul (discussed together). Finally come, in order, the contributions of Mark, Matthew and Luke, then the Pastorals, the epistle to the Hebrews, 1 and 2 Peter, and the Johannine corpus.

Just as the ministry of Jesus begins with this proclamation: "the time is fulfilled", the book highlights a recurring theme, which unites the entire New Testament: the fulfillment of the promises of the Old Testament, directly or typologically, explicitly or implicitly. Through his attentive reading, the author demonstrates the remarkable cohesion of the Bible and its fundamental importance for the Church today. If the grand finale of divine cosmic redemption is yet to come, the decisive events have already taken place in Christ. This is the conviction that drives Christians from generation to generation: times have changed, God's victory is assured, even if there is still a long way to go.
