For most, the impact of the Pentecostal phenomenon on the development of spirituality, church growth, and global missions is widely acknowledged. However, in terms of biblical, theological, and intellectual foundations, many have until now held the view that Pentecostalism had little to offer. This perception is poised to change, and in this regard, the publication of this work can be considered a precursor to a movement destined to intensify in the coming years.
Excerpts from the foreword by Clark H. Pinnock

Many scholarly debates have taken place in recent years regarding the role and action of the Holy Spirit in Luke-Acts. The Charismatic Theology of St. Luke presents a new approach to the interpretive problems associated with the analysis of these texts.

The nodal point of this controversy is entirely concentrated in the interpretation of the expressions "baptism in the Holy Spirit" and "filled with the Holy Spirit" as used in Luke-Acts. R. Stronstad argues that, in an effort to harmonize Lucan and Pauline theologies on the Holy Spirit, Luke's charismatic emphases have been poorly interpreted.

R. Stronstad offers a relevant, thought-provoking study of Luke. As a charismatic theologian, his perception of the Spirit shapes his understanding of both the person of Jesus and the very nature of the early Church. Written with a fine pen, The Charismatic Theology of St. Luke challenges and even pushes Protestants to re-examine and reconsider the impact of Pentecost.
