The reader is confronted with fundamental questions regarding biblical history: Are the documents reliable? Do they accurately account for what happened? What is their historical value? What attitude should one adopt toward the texts as they are presented? An answer to these and other questions, formulated from an evangelical perspective, helps avoid being swallowed up in a post-modern fog where everything becomes shifting, displacement, multiplicity, and difference. The stakes are high: can we receive with confidence what is written on the pages of the sacred book?
