A reference work for a first approach to the Bible. For each biblical book, you will find a few pages of introduction allowing you to grasp useful information for a better understanding of the biblical text.
Sixty-six books in one:
- an entire library containing writings spanning fifteen centuries;
- forty different authors: kings, shepherds, ministers, archivists, a doctor, poets, philosophers, prophets, apostles...
- a whole range of men from every social condition.
The literary genres are just as varied: narratives, lyric poems, speeches, dramas, maxims, letters... And, despite this diversity, a wonderful unity of inspiration and thought.
Each of these books has its own history, and we understand its message much better if we know the circumstances in which it was born, if we know who its author is, for whom the message was intended, at what time, and why it was written. It is such questions that this work seeks to answer.
