The perspectives of the anthropologist, the biblical scholar, the ethicist, and the theologian converge to illuminate the notions, contested today, that lie at the heart of sacrifice: divine justice to be satisfied, the debt of sin to be paid, faults to be expiated, and the reminder that it is God, in his love, who accomplished the sacrifice of perpetual value. After all, this concerns the biblical foundation of faith and the essence of Christianity. Proceedings of a conference organized by the Free Faculty of Reformed Theology of Aix-en-Provence in December 2006.
