Death, judgment, heaven, hell
The modern generation is so preoccupied with the affairs of the present that it has evacuated the things to come from its thoughts. However, time takes us all, sometimes at dizzying speed, towards certain but often poorly defined deadlines.
In “The Last Things,” the author leads his reader into a study of these timelines – death and dying, judgment, hell and heaven. Its aim is not speculation (“I believe that…”) nor sentimentality (“everything will be fine in the end”). On the contrary, he seeks to identify in biblical teaching what is God's truth, with the aim of affirming it with clarity, simplicity and in a concrete manner for life in the world here below.
He writes with care and thoughtfulness and aims for a serious, sober but lively study of his subject. He also demonstrates humility and sensitivity because, as a Christian, he is convinced that we must follow the Word of God where it leads us, but no further. These pages clarify our conception of the future. They also provide a perspective of freshness and renewed clarity regarding our lives in the present.
