God's most important work on earth is for man to declare His word. In the Old Testament, the word of God was announced through the ministry of the prophets, and in the New Testament, it was through the ministry of the Lord Jesus and later by the apostles.
Even though God willingly allows us to express His word, the greatest measure of our usefulness as ministers of the Word is not the amount of our biblical knowledge, nor even the ability to present biblical truth with eloquence; rather, it is judged by the degree to which our feelings, thoughts, opinions, and characteristics have been thoroughly dealt with by the Lord.
To be a minister of the Word of God, we must first allow the Lord to mold and form our inner parts through the inner operation and discipline of the Holy Spirit. The Ministry of the Word of God contains a series of messages given by Watchman Nee in 1948 and 1949 after nearly thirty years of ministry. These messages are profound, penetrating, subjective, and full of light, and they reveal both the depth of his experience and the extent of our need to open ourselves to the inner operation of the Holy Spirit.
