First of all, one cannot help but be struck by the all-encompassing nature of this book: it provides a set of concepts allowing us to understand the meaning and purpose of human existence in an understandable, readable and applicable way. It shows how to understand all of the biblical data. It helps us to see that the teachings of Jesus, and particularly those of the Sermon on the Mount, are intelligent and vital, and eminently practical.
The breadth of the issues covered is astonishing: from the redemption and justification of the soul to discipleship and growth in grace, to the heavenly condition. Not without analyzing the situation of the contemporary world in a remarkable and complete way: he shows that the various facts, theories and techniques of secularized materialism do not have the slightest logical bearing on the ultimate questions of existence and life, and it highlights the different “sin management theologies” that animate the Churches today.
