"Maurice Hadjadj applies to the text a skill derived from both theological studies and his experience: from the pastorate as well as from religious publishing. He adopts the approach that he describes as spiritualist, and which is also called idealist, which is more interested in the truths communicated, often by symbols, than in the events predicted (without denying that they are also found). His originality, which one would familiarly call "breathtaking", consists in pushing further than his predecessors, in explaining almost all the "details" in the light of the revelation of Jesus Christ, and in doing so by constantly referring back to the work of the First Coming, the work of the Cross.
Shaken as I am by the coherence of the plea, I am nevertheless not sure that I can follow Maurice Hadjadj on some of his choices of interpretation. Of one thing, however, I am sure: his work deserves the most serious attention. It brings such a new perspective, with so many supporting arguments, and a fortifying effect on the faith, that it must be given a place in the debate.
