A challenge for unity
With the clarity, relevance, accuracy and authority that we know of him, John Stott offers here a master, capital, prophetic work, a work that he himself considers, and with disturbing humility, as his spiritual testament .
Certainly, at the dawn of the 21st century, we had to dare to say again where the Christian faith was located, the whole Christian faith and only the Christian faith. What he confides here, he proclaimed forcefully in Amsterdam, in August 2000, during the world evangelical gathering. We must restore its place to the Trinity, affirm who are God the Creator, Jesus Christ the Savior, the Holy Spirit Comforter.
It is an immense service that John Stott renders to the Church today by reminding it of what it believes, what it must believe, what it does not have to believe. This challenge for the faith is also a remarkable payment for Unity.
One of John Stott's major works was The Essentials of Christianity. After 60 years of ministry, he usefully “restored” his thinking which, with extraordinary vigor, drew its strength from the Bible.
