This commentary analyzes each chapter in light of the whole. The introduction or appendix examines the book’s message and literary characteristics, a portrait of the main characters, the general framework of the narrative, and a critique of the Greek translation of the book of Esther in the Septuagint, which adds one hundred verses to the Hebrew original.
