How can one remain firm in the faith when circumstances, traditions, or misunderstandings put a Christian community to the test? In his commentary on Paul's two epistles to the Thessalonians, François Bassin explores the responses offered by the apostle to a young church facing several challenges.
The author focuses particularly on the major themes that run through these letters: faith, brotherly love, hope, perseverance, and the anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ. Questions related to Christian hope and the events surrounding the Lord's return, in particular, occupy an important place in the study.
Faithful to the approach of the Evangelical Bible Commentary series, François Bassin offers an attentive study of the text, its historical context, and its interpretive difficulties. The resources of philology, history, and archaeology are mobilized to enlighten the reader, without requiring knowledge of the biblical languages.
A rich commentary for understanding how Paul encourages the believers in Thessalonica to live out their faith with constancy, to grow in love, and to remain in the hope of Christ's return.
A valuable tool for personal study, Bible study groups, sermon preparation, and all those who wish to deepen their understanding of the two epistles to the Thessalonians.
