Anti-Semitism, it’s time to react! On September 5, 1972, Palestinian terrorists took hostage and then killed eleven Israeli athletes at the Olympic Games taking place in Munich. Were these the last throes of murderous anti-Jewish hatred? Alas no ! The forty-six years that separate us from this tragedy have been punctuated by bloody crimes, death threats, public insults of an anti-Semitic nature, in Europe and particularly in France. Even more worrying, the ideological, political or religious justifications for such hatred are resurfacing under the guise of anti-Zionism, anti-racism, fascism and radical Islamism.
Christians, largely guilty of having nourished this hatred in ancient history and long complicit in its consequences through their silence in recent history, cannot remain indifferent to this new rise in anti-Semitism. Firstly because the biblical imperative of love of neighbor invites them to defend all those who are objects of hatred. Then because the disciples of Christ owe a debt to the Israelites expressed by Jesus in a formula: “Salvation comes from the Jews”.
