In Saint Paul , we see to what extent the heart and the soul are the central concerns of Adolphe Monod's ministry. Of course, this pastor wanted to lead his listeners and parishioners to the foot of the cross to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ, but that was only the beginning. He also wanted to influence a generation of young people who, through their faith and their actions, would bring renewal to the Church. Above all, his goal was to see a renewed Church that would in turn transform society and the world. This was a real need in the author's time, and it is still a great need today.

Adolphe Monod (1802-1856) was a French Protestant pastor and theologian. From 1820 to 1824, he studied theology at the University of Geneva. In 1836, he was recruited as a professor at the Protestant theology faculty of Montauban. He then became a professor of morality, then of Hebrew. In 1847, he became pastor of the Reformed Church of the Oratoire du Louvre, in Paris. He was very successful as a preacher. His brother, Frédéric Monod, was also a pastor at the same time as him in Paris, where he was one of the leading figures of the French-speaking Protestant Awakening.
