On the occasion of Sunday visits to 30 different places of worship (evangelical Protestants of the pietist type, Protestants of the Lutheran or Reformed type, evangelical Protestants of the Pentecostal or charismatic type, Catholics, Orthodox and Anglicans) and this in several European countries, Michel Sommer meticulously recorded his observations and impressions to bring us into the intimate universe of each celebration and offer us a theological and liturgical analysis of each practice.
The author's subjective view, at a good distance but nevertheless open and benevolent, immerses us in the great diversity of expressions of the Christian faith and makes us discover new anthropological territories which outline a plural reality confronted with the issues of diversity and interculturality.
It is a true praise of the encounter which will delight those who know how to savor differences rather than being frightened by them!
A graduate of the Autonomous Faculty of Protestant Theology of Geneva and of the Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (Elkhart, USA), Michel Sommer is theological animator at the Bienenberg Training and Meeting Center (Switzerland) and editor of the monthly Christ Alone of the Mennonite Churches of France.
