"You talk a lot about the digital world. But in concrete terms, what are we supposed to do with our 12-year-old child who spends 9 hours a day glued to their phone?"
It is this (frequent) question from distraught parents that led us, as counseling trainers, to launch an in-depth reflection on the place of screens in our lives. A question that often goes unanswered and is a source of much suffering and tension in family relationships. Many adults are also losing their footing in their addiction to screens. This overexposure has serious consequences for health, behavior, interpersonal relationships, spiritual life, intellectual capacities, but also for our relationship with the truth, the risks of mass manipulation, and the malicious capture of attention.
- How can we transform this awareness into a concrete and sustainable action plan?
- How can we put screens at our service without becoming enslaved to them?
- What answer can the Christian faith provide to the hegemony of screens? Does a digital education ministry have a place in our communities?
It is, among others, these questions that this book attempts to answer. It will be an inexhaustible source of inspiration for all those who, in their family circles, churches, counseling associations, and training centers, wish to tackle the subject of screens head-on.
