“Childhood is a fragile stem that needs support.” - La Rochefoucauld

“It takes a village to raise a child.” - African proverb

These two quotes highlight both the child's fragility and their dependence on adults. But this “fragile stem” holds immense potential. A child is not a miniature adult, but an adult in the making. They are a person in their own right entrusted to us by God, to whom we must offer listening, protection, love, and education, while guiding them in the discovery of faith.

We are called to accompany them in their development until they reach maturity, both human and spiritual. What a formidable challenge, but also what a precious mission!

This book aims to help Christian parents and Sunday school teachers in this task; it also contains a specific section on children's rights written by Nancy Lefèvre, a legal expert at the CNEF.

Felly Yoka is involved in the ministry of the Association Évangile & Enfance (AEE), which he led as national director from 2012 to 2019, with the precious support of his wife, Odile. A pastor in Uzès (Gard) since 2001, he regularly leads training seminars for teachers and teaches the module “The child, their faith, and us” at the Geneva Bible Institute (IBG).

“This work by Felly Yoka is a remarkable reference point for the early 21st century, a time losing its bearings. You will find solidly supported and balanced resources, essential for all those who wish to deepen the accompaniment of children according to biblical ethics.” - Thierry Le Gall, Pastor – Director of the CNEF Pastoral Service to Parliamentarians
