This first volume on the Psalms of the Commentaire Évangélique de la Bible (CEB) contains a general introduction to the Psalter and the commentary on Psalms 1–72. The introduction deals with questions such as the structure of the Psalter, the messianic hope of the Psalms, the psalms of imprecation, the titles and the technical indications they contain. This introduction is the subject of an important supplement, written by Professor Émile Nicole (Professor Emeritus of Old Testament at the Faculté libre de théologique évangélique), who evokes some of the themes of recent research: the canon of the Psalms, the Psalms as a book and the theology of the Psalter. The general context having thus been analyzed, each psalm is then the subject of an exegetical study aimed at bringing out its meaning and message.
