Does the coming of Jesus the Messiah change anything in the world? Can the Church offer real alternatives to the ills of society?
To both questions, this book answers “yes”! But this answer cannot be “cheap”.
Thus, the new order of things that Jesus the Messiah inaugurates is characterized by peace with God and with everyone, even the enemy. The peace of Christ shakes up the established order, gives rise to a new mentality, implies a transformed vision of the world and non-violent means of action.
This peace of Christ gives birth to a community characterized by six practices: "binding and loosing"; baptism; the Lord's Supper; freedom of speech; the ministry of all; love of the enemy. In an original way, the author shows that these practices are in reality the concrete and community manifestation of this new order of things (a "policy") inaugurated by Jesus. They also become a force for proposition for the social, economic and political functioning of society.
The author therefore challenges Christians: have they really measured the implications of the coming of the Prince of Peace? And he proposes a renewed meaning to the community life of the Church on mission.
