Understanding the Bible - a book by John Stott
Understanding the Bible deals with geography, history, theology, biblical authority and interpretation. Its purpose is to explain the context in which God once revealed Christ...and still reveals Him to us today.
Our world is becoming more and more secularized, and as a result there are a large number of people who are converting to Jesus Christ without having any religious background. Others, converted for several years and faithful readers of the Word of God, desire to know God better, live to please him, and transmit the Gospel to a lost and disoriented generation. This book is aimed at both types of people.
Our need today is to have a broadened and enlarged view of Jesus Christ. But God gave Jesus Christ to the world in a specific geographic, historical and theological context.
