Ecclesia was born at Pentecost in the year 30, almost 2000 years ago. In all its generations it has known countless heroes. Some anonymous, others extremely famous. They lived at very different times, in varied social and economic contexts. Each of them sought, as best they could, to hold high the standard of faith and to share their convictions with their contemporaries.
The stories in this fifth volume take place in modern times between 1850 and 1980. They tell us of a Church which, even in the darkest periods of our recent history, remains the faithful witness to the truths of the Gospel.
The 12 characters presented in this work have all paid with themselves, sometimes even with their lives. Whether they were missionaries, pastors, philanthropists or simple Christians, they shared their faith in difficult contexts and were radiant witnesses of their Lord.
The historical accounts in this book are supplemented by short thematic explanations, to allow readers of all ages to better understand this last period of Ecclesia's history.
