To listen to and study the parables is to enter the school of discipleship of Jesus. This is his preferred teaching method. It is educational, because it strikes the imagination and the memory, highlighting abstract truths. These are allegorical, symbolic stories, images that make you think, often hidden from the natural man in order to better reveal themselves to the spiritual man.
Few Christians know that there are nearly forty of them! Some are very well known, like that of the "prodigal son", but others - more difficult - are rarely commented on.
