"There are some signs today of a resurgence of interest in biblical theology: a new eagerness to test traditions, to scrutinize Scripture... It is up to those who share this eagerness that this treatise of Owen is offered, with the conviction that it will aid us in one of the most urgent tasks facing the evangelical Christian world today – the recovery of the gospel. »
James I. Packer
The Death of Death in the Death of Christ was published in 1647. It seems that no one has succeeded in refuting Owen's thesis, which he brilliantly defends on the basis of Scripture .
John Owen , born in 1616, is one of the most eminent theologians in English history. At the age of 12, he entered the University of Oxford where he obtained a bachelor's degree in 1632 and a master's degree in 1635. For several years, he served as personal chaplain to Oliver Cromwell, this which led him to preach in Parliament on several occasions. He would also minister in three churches during his life. His grave can still be seen in Bunhill Fields Cemetery, London.
