To speak of salvation is to speak of before salvation, and it is also talking about what comes next. Immediately stated, the question of the remedy brought by God to sin – salvation – raises that of the communication of this salvation to sinful man and requires the examination of the doctrine of evil whose effect redemption abolishes. This work thus deals, in its successive chapters, first with sin, then with the accomplishment of salvation, finally with the application of salvation through the work of the Holy Spirit. Among the “sensitive” themes of evangelical theology exposed here, with arguments for and against: the essential, but attacked, doctrine of the atoning sacrifice and substitutionary punishment of Jesus Christ; the personality of the Holy Spirit, his relationship to the Son and his manifestations, the divine permission of evil and original sin.

The Doctrine of Sin and Redemption brings together the course given under this title by Henri Blocher at the Free Faculty of Evangelical Theology. This volume constitutes the first title of the Didaskalia collection , which will be gradually enriched by other publications of courses taught at the Faculty.
