Description
Who does not want to know the "good life"? Can we talk about the "Good Lord"? These expressions, so common in ordinary speech, no longer really have any meaning when we go through the vicissitudes of life here below and when we see the terrible events that shake our life and our world. It is not rare to meet disillusioned people. Like Ecclesiastes, they have stopped hoping for anything and, for them, God is a distant chimera that we prefer not to think about.
But Solomon, the great and wise king, does not stop at the "earthly" perspective. He examines what God has revealed about himself and his relationships with men. He concludes that indeed, life is worth living...with the Lord.
Likewise, upon meeting this God filled with all goodness and mercy, his heart is drawn by a love that has no equal on this earth. Thus, far from being in the presence of an unknown and wrathful divinity, he sees that the Lord is the one who most deserves our love.
However, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs only direct the gaze to a later time, now fulfilled – the time when the Messiah of God has come, who gives life all its beautiful colours and who, by grace, unites the soul in faith to the God of love.
Simple pages on books unfamiliar to the believer, which will enrich his experience and warm his heart.
