When the bearer of the Word opens his mouth to present it, he must have language that is clear, understandable and likely to be remembered. In other words, it does not transmit, but rather communicates a message, its objective being not only to convince the listeners, but also to provoke a change in them. For this to be possible, there are certain conditions to be met. The bearer of the Word needs to call on everything that can make his communication effective. Through the range of means available to him to enable him to achieve his objective, it is necessary to highlight illustrations, stories, anecdotes, historical facts, etc. In this book, we offer a plethora of these means that we have gleaned here and there for the benefit of pastors, preachers, evangelists and the faithful. May they be, as Charles H. Spurgeon said, “windows of light” to them.
