Bible commentary
The Gospel of Matthew has always been perceived by the Christian Churches as a book whose topicality does not need to be demonstrated. This is why it has frequently been used for the training of Christians and why some of the words of Jesus it contains have become fundamental to the faith.
How can we understand this gospel and its message today, whether for personal meditation or for preaching and other forms of communication?
How can we understand, for example, the ever-escalating conflict between Jesus and the religious authorities of his time? What lessons can we learn from the many parables that speak of the coming of the kingdom and the advent of Christ? And how can we read the tragic story of the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus, while perceiving God's action in it? This commentary places the reader face to face with the biblical text, and invites him to formulate, for the Church and the world of today, the message of the Gospel of Matthew.
