Here, available to all who love the Bible, is a book that will encourage them to love it more by helping them understand it better.
Every Christian is normally engaged in a concrete service linked to the propagation of the faith, ranging from simple testimony to preaching for some. As such, they are constantly in a position to affirm what is true, to refute what is false and to evaluate what is uncertain: the Bible is the only reference in this matter.
We must therefore read it, study it, meditate on it to be sure to understand it well, to interpret the text well, to reach and grasp what God wants to say. This book therefore simply seeks to provide insights that will help you get the most out of your personal study of the Bible.
A first part specifies what we mean when we affirm that the Bible is the Word of God.
A second part explains the general rules of interpretation: how to read and understand the Bible. These are the rules of hermeneutics. Finally, a third part gives some specific indications to help in the reading and understanding of each type of biblical text.
The aim is therefore to summarize the essentials of hermeneutics briefly and in terms accessible to the greatest number, at the risk of being reductive. The interested reader will find at the end of the book a list of the most important references that have been used for this work and which can usefully be consulted to go further.
This book will not take you away from the Book, on the contrary, it will constantly bring you back to it and help you to live it better by loving it more and understanding it better.
