Men, history and society
Judea at the turn of our era is a world very different from ours. The language, the way of life, the social structure and even daily concerns: everything can seem difficult to understand. Textual, archaeological, numismatic and papyrological sources require specific methodologies which make their use difficult. This work proposes to guide the reader of the New Testament on these paths, in order to find the men and women who make up this living and cosmopolitan world.
With more than ninety biographies, the whole of society is brought to life, from kings and emperors to tax collectors. The large governmental structures, the diversity of Judaism, the role and meaning of the Temple and ritual practices, provide so many analyzes that allow us to understand this world in its most ordinary, most daily, most concrete functioning.
