We must fight like him to ensure our existence, we resort to schemes and compromises in the face of discourteous partners. If God has not lost patience with a Jacob, he will also lead us to the goal he has planned for us.
Jacob's life before Peniel (Gen 21:23-34) is the true picture of a man's life before God could accept and use him, just as his experience at Peniel is exactly the type of experience by which God must lead us if we want to be pleasing to him and useful in his service.

After his career in public education in France, Alfred Kuen came to teach at the Emmaüs Biblical and Missionary Institute. Since his second retirement, he has devoted himself to writing works on the Bible and giving conferences on these subjects in different countries. He also chaired the European Association for the Accreditation of Biblical Training Institutions.
