Supplement from Jules-Marcel Nicole
Jacques Blocher was born in 1909 into a pastoral family. From 1932 until his death in 1986, he was a professor at the Institut Biblique de Nogent, where he was, among other things, responsible for the course devoted to Catholicism. Prisoner of war, and Protestant chaplain of an Oflag from 1940 to 1945, he had the opportunity in captivity to deepen his knowledge of Catholicism through numerous discussions with fellow priests. His long presidency of the Biblical Mission in Côte d'Ivoire, and his numerous travels across Africa also allowed him to know Catholicism well in the missionary context.
