The 1989 student massacre in Lubumbashi, Zaire, perpetrated by the brutal dictator President Mobutu Sese Seko, marked almost the final hour of the three brothers Michel, Fabian and Aliston Lwamba. That grim day when they narrowly escaped death marked the beginning of an incredible saga that changed their lives forever. During the crush, the Lwambas were separated. They lived in refugee camps for more than five years, leaving many of their family members dead. They survived violence, depression and famine before finding God, and in Him both the reason and the will to stand. Finally Michel and Aliston had the chance to emigrate to Canada. Later, their brother Fabian, whom they believed to be dead, joined them there by miracle. Today, the music that the brothers shared in the refugee camps and which gave others reason to live and peace led them to found the group Krystaal. Their style, mixing gospel, hip-hop, R&B and African music, has earned them many awards. In September 2006, they inaugurated the Krystaal World Peace Tour.
