The life of John Knox
John Knox (1513-1572) was a very important person in Scotland. Through his strong words and teaching, Scotland changed its way of thinking - it adopted the Protestant Reformation, a new way of understanding the Christian faith.
Initially, Knox was a teacher who worked for a wealthy family in Scotland. He had different jobs, such as being the teacher, the bodyguard, and even being imprisoned on a French ship. Eventually he became a minister and spoke for the people of Scotland.
John Knox had to defend the Reformation in front of queens like Mary of Scots and Mary Stuart. He was very courageous. He wrote an important document, called the Scottish Confession of Faith, which was accepted by the government in 1560.
Some people think that Knox was a harsh and strict man, but as you read this book you will discover that he was actually a sensitive, dedicated person, willing to make sacrifices. This book is easy to read and it depicts the life of John Knox in an interesting way.
