God has given each human being his talent or talents to help him find his place in the universe and function automatically. Discovering your talent, developing it, maximizing its potential will allow you to live and function easily in the sphere of work that God has assigned to you. Leaving aside your talent and trying to have other people's talents and do what they are doing or what they are supposed to do will lead to frustration. An ear cannot decide to function like an eye and succeed, nor can fish decide to grow wings and succeed.
The person who begins with one or a limited number of talents and uses them faithfully to the glory of God and the blessing of man can ask and receive from the Lord more talents for more service. The person who does not invest his talent for the glory and satisfaction of God will lose it to the one who is more faithful. In addition to losing her talent, she will be punished for wasting God's talent. Therefore, all who have received talents from God must give an account to Him for what they do with what they have received.
Most of the time, God allows a person to maintain his talent or talents after his conversion to the Lord Jesus. Often these are promoted or increased in the act of conversion so that people are able to do more after conversion to the Lord Jesus than they could do before. The talents of converted people and their spiritual gifts are to be used for the glory of God, for the advancement of the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, and for the service of man.
Because talents are special abilities given by God to man to use for Him, they function best in those who experience radical conversion and radical consecration to Him. This is so because he who is radically converted and radically consecrated experiences a profound deliverance from sin, from “self”, from bonds, from the love of the world, from the love of the things of the world and from everything else that could hinder the increased development and use of God-given talents. We therefore recommend radical conversion, radical sanctification and radical consecration as the normal lifestyle for all who want to make better use of their God-given talent or talents.
